ซาอูลสิ้นพระชนม์
31:1 บัดนี้คนฟีลิสเตียได้ต่อสู้กับคนอิสราเอล และคนอิสราเอลก็หนีไปจากต่อหน้าคนฟีลิสเตีย และล้มตายอยู่ในภูเขากิลโบอา

Death of Saul
31:1 Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

31:2 และคนฟีลิสเตียก็ไล่ติดตามซาอูลกับพวกราชโอรสของพระองค์อย่างหนัก และคนฟีลิสเตียได้ฆ่าโยนาธาน และอาบีนาดับ และมัลคีชูวา เหล่าราชโอรสของซาอูลเสีย

31:2 And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, Saul's sons.

31:3 และการสู้รบอันดุเดือดนั้นก็ประชิดซาอูลเข้าไป และพวกนักธนูได้ยิงถูกพระองค์ และพระองค์ได้รับบาดเจ็บสาหัสโดยพวกนักธนูนั้น

31:3 And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers.

31:4 แล้วซาอูลตรัสกับผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของพระองค์ว่า “จงชักดาบของเจ้าออก และแทงเราให้ทะลุด้วยดาบนั้นเถิด เกรงว่าคนที่มิได้เข้าสุหนัตเหล่านี้จะเข้ามาและแทงเราทะลุ และย่ำยีเรา” แต่ผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของพระองค์ไม่ยอมกระทำตาม เพราะเขากลัวยิ่งนัก ฉะนั้นซาอูลจึงเอาดาบมาเล่มหนึ่งและล้มทับดาบนั้น

31:4 Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

31:5 และเมื่อผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของพระองค์เห็นว่าซาอูลสิ้นพระชนม์แล้ว เขาก็ล้มทับดาบของเขาเองเหมือนกัน และตายพร้อมกับพระองค์

31:5 And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.

31:6 ดังนั้นซาอูลจึงสิ้นพระชนม์ และราชโอรสทั้งสามคนของพระองค์ และผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของพระองค์ และกองทัพทั้งสิ้นของพระองค์ ในวันเดียวกันนั้นเอง

31:6 So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.

31:7 และเมื่อคนอิสราเอลที่อยู่บนหุบเขาฟากข้างโน้น และพวกเขาที่อยู่บนฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างโน้น เห็นว่าคนอิสราเอลได้หนีไป และซาอูลกับพวกราชโอรสของพระองค์ได้สิ้นชีพแล้ว พวกเขาก็ทิ้งนครทั้งหลายเสียและหลบหนีไป และคนฟีลิสเตียมาและอาศัยอยู่ในนครเหล่านั้น

31:7 And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

31:8 และต่อมาในวันรุ่งขึ้น เมื่อคนฟีลิสเตียมาเพื่อปลดเอาเสื้อผ้าจากคนที่ถูกฆ่า พวกเขาก็พบซาอูลและราชโอรสทั้งสามคนของพระองค์ล้มตายอยู่ในภูเขากิลโบอา

31:8 And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa.

31:9 และพวกเขาตัดพระเศียรของพระองค์ออก และถอดเครื่องอาวุธของพระองค์ออก และส่งเข้าไปในแผ่นดินของคนฟีลิสเตียโดยรอบ เพื่อประกาศข่าวนี้ในเรือนของเหล่ารูปเคารพของพวกเขา และในท่ามกลางประชาชน

31:9 And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people.

31:10 และพวกเขาบรรจุเครื่องอาวุธของพระองค์ไว้ในเรือนของพระอัชทาโรท และพวกเขามัดพระศพของพระองค์ไว้กับกำแพงแห่งเมืองเบธชาน

31:10 And they put his armour in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Bethshan.

31:11 และเมื่อชาวเมืองยาเบชกิเลอาดได้ยินสิ่งซึ่งคนฟีลิสเตียได้กระทำต่อซาอูลนั้น

31:11 And when the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul;

31:12 ชายที่กล้าหาญทุกคนก็ลุกขึ้น และไปตลอดคืนนั้น และปลดพระศพของซาอูลและศพทั้งหลายของเหล่าราชโอรสของพระองค์ลงเสียจากกำแพงแห่งเมืองเบธชาน และมายังเมืองยาเบช และถวายพระเพลิงแด่พระองค์กับเหล่าราชโอรสเสียที่นั่น

31:12 All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.

31:13 และพวกเขาได้เก็บอัฐิของพระองค์กับเหล่าราชโอรส และฝังอัฐิเหล่านั้นไว้ใต้ต้นไม้ต้นหนึ่งที่ยาเบช และอดอาหารเจ็ดวัน

31:13 And they took their bones, and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
