ยอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมาประกาศ (มก 1:3-6; ลก 3:2-17; ยน 1:6-8, 19-28)
3:1 ในวันเหล่านั้นยอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมา มาประกาศในถิ่นทุรกันดารแห่งแคว้นยูเดีย

John the Baptist Preaches (Mark 1:3-6; Luke 3:2-17; John 1:6-8, 19-28)
3:1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

3:2 และกล่าวว่า “ท่านทั้งหลายจงกลับใจเสียใหม่ เพราะว่าอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์มาใกล้แล้ว”

3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

3:3 เพราะผู้นี้แหละเป็นผู้ที่ถูกกล่าวถึงโดยอิสยาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์ ซึ่งกล่าวว่า ‘เสียงของผู้หนึ่งที่ร้องในถิ่นทุรกันดารว่า ท่านทั้งหลายจงเตรียมมรรคาขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า จงกระทำบรรดาหนทางของพระองค์ให้ตรงไป’

3:3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

3:4 และยอห์นคนเดียวกันนี้มีเสื้อผ้าของตนซึ่งทำด้วยขนอูฐ และมีหนังสัตว์คาดเอวของท่าน และอาหารของท่านคือพวกตั๊กแตนและน้ำผึ้งป่า

3:4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

3:5 แล้วชาวกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และคนตลอดทั่วแคว้นยูเดีย และคนตลอดทั่วบริเวณรอบแม่น้ำจอร์แดน ก็ออกไปหาท่าน

3:5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,

3:6 และได้รับบัพติศมาจากท่านในแม่น้ำจอร์แดน โดยสารภาพบาปทั้งหลายของตน

3:6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

3:7 แต่เมื่อท่านเห็นหลายคนในพวกฟาริสีและพวกสะดูสีมาเพื่อจะรับบัพติศมาจากท่าน ท่านได้กล่าวแก่พวกเขาว่า “โอ ชั่วอายุแห่งงูร้ายทั้งหลาย ใครได้เตือนพวกเจ้าให้หนีจากพระพิโรธที่จะมาถึงนั้น

3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

3:8 เหตุฉะนั้นจงเกิดผลทั้งหลายให้สมกับการกลับใจใหม่เถิด

3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

3:9 และอย่าคิดที่จะกล่าวภายในพวกเจ้าเองว่า พวกเรามีอับราฮัมเป็นบรรพบุรุษของพวกเรา เพราะเรากล่าวแก่เจ้าทั้งหลายว่า พระเจ้าทรงฤทธิ์สามารถจะให้บุตรทั้งหลายเกิดขึ้นแก่อับราฮัมจากก้อนหินเหล่านี้ได้

3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

3:10 และบัดนี้ขวานวางไว้ที่โคนต้นไม้ทั้งหลายแล้วด้วย ฉะนั้นต้นไม้ทุกต้นซึ่งไม่เกิดผลดีจะต้องถูกตัดลงและถูกโยนทิ้งในไฟ

3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

3:11 แท้จริง เราให้เจ้าทั้งหลายรับบัพติศมาด้วยน้ำอันแสดงถึงการกลับใจเสียใหม่ แต่พระองค์ผู้ที่เสด็จมาภายหลังเรา ทรงมีฤทธิ์ยิ่งกว่าเรา ผู้ซึ่งเราไม่คู่ควรที่จะถือรองเท้าของพระองค์ พระองค์จะทรงให้เจ้าทั้งหลายรับบัพติศมาด้วยพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์และด้วยไฟ

3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

3:12 ผู้ซึ่งพลั่วของพระองค์อยู่ในพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ และพระองค์จะทรงชำระลานข้าวของพระองค์ให้ทั่ว และจะทรงรวบรวมข้าวสาลีของพระองค์ไว้ในยุ้งฉาง แต่พระองค์จะทรงเผาแกลบด้วยไฟที่ไม่รู้ดับ”

3:12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

3:13 แล้วพระเยซูเสด็จจากแคว้นกาลิลีมาหายอห์นที่แม่น้ำจอร์แดน เพื่อจะรับบัพติศมาจากท่าน

Jesus Baptized by John (Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22; John 1:31-34)
3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

3:14 แต่ยอห์นทูลห้ามพระองค์ โดยกล่าวว่า “ข้าพระองค์ต้องการจะรับบัพติศมาจากพระองค์ และพระองค์เสด็จมาหาข้าพระองค์หรือ”

3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

3:15 และพระเยซูตรัสตอบท่านว่า “จงยอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเถิดตอนนี้ เพราะสมควรที่พวกเราจะทำให้ความชอบธรรมทั้งสิ้นสำเร็จ” แล้วท่านก็ยอมทำตามพระองค์

3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

3:16 และพระเยซู เมื่อพระองค์ทรงรับบัพติศมาแล้ว ในทันใดนั้นก็เสด็จขึ้นมาจากน้ำ และดูเถิด ฟ้าสวรรค์ทั้งหลายก็แหวกออกให้แก่พระองค์ และพระองค์ได้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นพระวิญญาณของพระเจ้าเสด็จลงมาดุจนกเขา และสถิตอยู่บนพระองค์

3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

3:17 และดูเถิด มีเสียงหนึ่งจากสวรรค์ ซึ่งตรัสว่า “ผู้นี้เป็นบุตรที่รักของเรา ผู้ซึ่งเราโปรดปรานมาก”

3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
