Greeting
1:1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

1:2 ในความหวังแห่งชีวิตนิรันดร์ ซึ่งพระเจ้า ผู้ไม่สามารถตรัสมุสา ได้ทรงสัญญาไว้ตั้งแต่ก่อนสร้างโลก

1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

1:3 แต่ในเวลาที่ทรงกำหนดไว้ ก็ได้โปรดให้พระวจนะของพระองค์ปรากฏโดยการเทศนา ซึ่งได้ทรงมอบไว้แก่ข้าพเจ้า ตามคำบัญชาของพระเจ้าพระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของพวกเรา

1:3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

1:4 ถึง ทิตัส ผู้เป็นบุตรแท้ของข้าพเจ้าตามความเชื่อเดียวกัน ขอพระคุณ พระเมตตา และสันติสุขจากพระเจ้าพระบิดา และพระเยซูคริสต์เจ้าพระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของพวกเรา จงดำรงอยู่กับท่านเถิด

1:4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

ทิตัสจะจัดระเบียบในคริสตจักรต่าง ๆ
1:5 เพราะเหตุนี้เองข้าพเจ้าจึงได้ละท่านไว้ที่เกาะครีต เพื่อท่านจะได้จัดระเบียบสิ่งต่าง ๆ ที่ยังบกพร่องอยู่ และตั้งบรรดาผู้ปกครองไว้ในนครทุกแห่งตามที่ข้าพเจ้าได้มอบหมายไว้แก่ท่านแล้ว

Titus to Set Churches in Order
1:5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

1:6 ถ้าผู้ใดเป็นคนไร้ที่ติ เป็นสามีของภรรยาคนเดียว มีบรรดาบุตรที่สัตย์ซื่อ ไม่ถูกกล่าวหาว่าเป็นนักเลงหรือเป็นคนดื้อกระด้าง

1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

1:7 เพราะว่าผู้ดูแลนั้น ต้องไร้ที่ติ ในฐานะเป็นผู้อารักขาของพระเจ้า ไม่เป็นคนดื้อดึง ไม่เป็นคนที่โมโหฉับพลัน ไม่สนใจเหล้าองุ่น ไม่เป็นนักเลง และไม่โลภทรัพย์สิ่งของอันเป็นมลทิน

1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

1:8 แต่เป็นคนมีอัชฌาสัยรับแขกดี เป็นผู้รักคนดี เป็นคนรู้จักประมาณตน เป็นคนยุติธรรม เป็นคนบริสุทธิ์ รู้จักบังคับใจตนเอง

1:8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

1:9 โดยยึดมั่นในถ้อยคำอันสัตย์ซื่อตามที่เขาได้รับคำสอนมาแล้ว เพื่อเขาจะสามารถ โดยหลักคำสอนอันถูกต้อง ทั้งเตือนสติและโน้มน้าวบรรดาคนที่พูดต่อต้านนั้น

1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

1:10 เพราะว่ามีคนเป็นอันมากที่ดื้อกระด้าง และพูดไม่เป็นสาระ และบรรดาคนหลอกลวง โดยเฉพาะพวกที่ถือการเข้าสุหนัต

1:10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

1:11 ผู้ซึ่งปากของพวกเขาต้องถูกปิดเสีย ผู้ซึ่งพลิกคว่ำบรรดาครัวเรือนให้เสียไป โดยสอนสิ่งต่าง ๆ ซึ่งพวกเขาไม่ควรจะสอนเลย เพราะเห็นแก่ทรัพย์สิ่งของอันเป็นมลทิน

1:11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

1:12 คนหนึ่งในพวกเขา คือเป็นผู้พยากรณ์ของพวกเขาเอง ได้กล่าวว่า “ชาวครีตเป็นคนพูดปดเสมอ เป็นสัตว์ร้ายทั้งหลาย เป็นคนเกียจคร้านกินเติบ”

1:12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

1:13 คำพยานนี้เป็นความจริง เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจงว่ากล่าวพวกเขาให้แรง ๆ เพื่อพวกเขาจะปกติในความเชื่อนั้น

1:13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

1:14 โดยไม่ได้ใส่ใจในนิทานต่าง ๆ ของพวกยิว และในบรรดาบทบัญญัติของมนุษย์ ที่หันไปเสียจากความจริง

1:14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

1:15 สำหรับคนบริสุทธิ์นั้น สิ่งสารพัดก็บริสุทธิ์ แต่สำหรับคนทั้งหลายที่เป็นมลทินและที่ไม่เชื่อนั้น ก็ไม่มีสิ่งใดบริสุทธิ์เลย แต่แม้กระทั่งความคิดและจิตสำนึกของพวกเขาก็เป็นมลทิน

1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

1:16 พวกเขาออกปากว่าพวกเขารู้จักพระเจ้า แต่ในการงานต่าง ๆ พวกเขาก็ปฏิเสธพระองค์ โดยการประพฤติตัวน่ารังเกียจ และไม่เชื่อฟัง และสำหรับการงานที่ดีทุกอย่างก็ใช้ไม่ได้เลย

1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
